Patrik presents its iQFOil quiver

14/10/2023

The world of Olympic windsurfing is about to undergo a serious change, as the Patrik brand makes a remarkable entry into the iQFOil scene. The recent announcement of a full class compliant quiver has shaken up established habits and put an end to the reign of the Starboard/Severne duo.

The iQFOil Olympic class, which has been dominated by Starboard and Severne, will now be given a visual boost with Patrik's entry, as diversity takes precedence over monopoly and paves the way for a more varied regatta landscape.
Patrik Diethelm, the Swiss shaper known for his tenacity, has obtained the coveted authorisation to produce his own Olympic material with the Swiss Elia Combo, one of Europe's top racers, as his ambassador.

The evolution of the iQFOil landscape will be closely watched over the coming months, as some athletes will undoubtedly make the leap to this new equipment, and the question will be whether the differences to Starboard/Severne configurations are noticeable.
At the end of this long and arduous homologation process, and with the Olympic debut of the iQFOil class in Marseilles in 2024 just around the corner, the market is coming to life. In the past, other iQFOil boards have made high-profile appearances, with boards in the Future Fly and FMX Racing colours - unique pieces to this day.
Unlike the previous Olympic support, the RS:X, diversity seems to have taken root with the arrival of Patrik's full range, an approach that has the merit of breaking the visual monotony of future regattas.
