Intense battles in Torbole

06/07/2023

For Wednesday's 3rd day of the iQFOil Youth & Junior European Championships, Lake Garda in Italy is offering perfect conditions with more than 20 knots on the water and the battles for overall victory as intense as ever.

As on the previous day, the Ora, the southerly thermal, is rapidly gaining the upper hand on the iQFOil Youth & Junior European Championships on this 3rd day of competition, and the wind gauge is rapidly climbing above 20 knots. The Slalom discipline, on the day's programme, quickly gave way to the Racing Race, with 4 to 5 races validated depending on the category. In these sometimes technical and difficult conditions, the falls were sometimes heavy but fortunately not serious, and there were also some interesting race incidents.
In the U19 boys' category, the podium remained unchanged, with Italy's Federico Pilloni continuing to dominate the competition, closely followed by Australia's Harry Joyner and Jacopo Gavioli. Pilloni and Joyner are just one point apart, making the battle for 1st place even more intense.

In the young women's U19 category, Norway's Maya Gysler came out on top on day 3, relegating her Italian rival Carola Colasanto to 2nd place.
In the U17 girls' category, Italy's Medea Falcioni continued her domination with 2 wins to her name. Spain's Catarina Tomas Cardell is close behind her in 2nd place, while Poland's Maria Rudowicz is 3rd. Medea Falcioni's performance is all the more remarkable given that she is competing in the U15 category within the U17 fleet. Finally, in the U17 boys' category, Israeli Peleg Rajuan remains in the lead, followed by Frenchman Kylian Manhavel and Italian Mattia Saoncella. Like Falcioni, Saoncella competes in the U15 category, demonstrating his unrivalled competitiveness at such a young age.
As the iQFOil Youth & Junior European Championships progress, the stakes continue to rise and the battles on the water intensify, with a great day of racing in store for Thursday...
