Hats off to the youngsters!

04/11/2022

It was under a sunny sky throughout the day that the racers battled today, on a completely glassy stretch of water this morning, then very rough following the increase in wind: 4 knots this morning and gusts recorded at 35 in the middle of the afternoon. This was enough to distinguish the most versatile, skilled in slalom in a light then strong wind.

As far as the results are concerned, the U19 women's ranking remains almost unchanged, with Tamar STEINBERG retaining first place, Kristyna PINOSOVA in second and Tuva OPPEDAL in third, overtaking her compatriot Oda SVERRE. No progress for the French, Manon GIRE remains 1 place away from entering the medal race, let's hope she manages to reach the top 10 Friday, last day before the finals. Because until then, nothing is decided! Lina ERZEN 5th in the ranking hopes like all the first 10 to succeed in maintaining her place, and thus her ticket for the finals: "I am super happy, I made very good starts today! The level of the girls is very high and I am happy to be competing against them. The conditions are quite difficult this week but that makes the reward even better. I am already looking forward to the possibility of being in the final on Saturday. I hope to be there! And I'll try to do my best without pressure".
In the boys' category, the provisional podium is 100% European with the Italian Manolo MODENA in 1st place, then the Spanish Nacho BALTASAT SUMMERS who made a great comeback from his 4th place, followed by Hiddie VAN DER MEER.

In the U17 category, three French riders made it into the top 5. Noé GARANDEAU keeps the temporary title as well as the French Antoine MARTIN in 3rd place and Gadeyne LUCAS who rises to 5th place. Maciej DABEK, 2nd yesterday, falls to 14th place while the Italian takes his place and moves up the ranking. The Polish Igor LEWINSKI temporarily reaches the 3rd step of the European podium. On the other hand, Gadeyne LUCAS still holds her beautiful 5th place. For the girls, Juliette NAPOLEONE unfortunately drops from 2nd to 5th place, but nothing is decided before the finals, which will really determine the European IQ Foil champions. In front of her, the Turkish Ada TAN is still leading the competition, followed by the Polish Maria RUDOWICZ and two Spanish, Caterina TOMAS CARDELL and Adriadna PATINO RIUTORD. The Frenchwoman Faustine GALLIC also follows closely with a nice 7th place.
Friday the conditions are expected to be milder, with the wind weakening throughout the day, probably allowing for slalom as well as the marathon, which has not yet taken place. This last day of qualification before the finals, where the conditions will be very different from the rest of the week, promises to be full of spectacle and surprises.
