At the end of 6 long days of competition, the iQFOil Youth & Junior European Championships in Italy delivered their winners' names on Saturday, with some confirmations, but also some disappointments...

After going through the measurement in the morning and the final preparations ashore, the medal races of the iQFOil Youth & Junior European Championships got underway early on Saturday afternoon, with the U19s taking to the water first.
In the U19 men's fleet, Australia's Harry Joyner, who has automatically qualified for the final, is joined by Italy's Federico Pilloni and Poland's Igor Lewinski. The trio engaged in a fierce battle. Pilloni took the lead from the outset and secured a comfortable lead. Joyner fought hard but had to settle for silver in the end, despite having been in the lead for much of the week. In the U19 women's race, Italy's Carola Colasanto, who had qualified for the final, was joined by Israel's Danielle Ziv and the Czech Republic's Kristyna Pinosova. The trio engaged in an intense battle, with the lead changing hands all the time. In the end, it was Pinosova who came out on top, ahead of Colasanto, in silver, and Ziv, in bronze.

In the U17 boys' event, France's Kylian Manhaval, who had taken the lead the day before, was joined by Israel's Peleg Rajuan and Hoël Quintric of France. Rajuan showed great determination and secured the gold medal with an impressive finish. Manhaval took silver and Quintric bronze. Finally, in the U17 girls' category, Spain's Caterina Tomas Cardell qualified automatically, alongside Italy's Medea Falcioni, who also competes in the U15 sub-category, and Turkey's Ada Tan. Falcioni and Tan put up a good fight from the outset, but Falcioni eventually came out on top. Tan took 2nd place on the podium ahead of Cardell.
With 422 competitors taking part
and a number of faces to remember for the 2028 and 2032 Olympics, the iQFOil Youth & Junior European Championships have ended on a high note, with a real enthusiasm for this sport among the younger generation.
