The show in South Africa!

03/02/2023

First event of the 2023 calendar, it is near Cape Town in South Africa where the Freestyle Pro Tour started its season last week with an explosive competition mixing freestyle and waveriding and the final victories of Pauline Katz and Marc Paré!

On 28th January, around thirty competitors met for the first event of the Freestyle Pro Tour season, an original competition with a first race on the lake of Rietvlei followed by a second one in the waves of Doodles.
With a strong wind of more than 30 knots, the hostilities began in Rietvlei, a spot that gives the best to the freestylers. Although the registered waveriders did well, it was the specialists of the discipline who had the last word, with Adrien Bosson winning the final ahead of Dieter Van der Eyken and the Frenchman Mathis Mollard. With only 2 women in the competition, the Swiss Pauline Katz beat the French Aurore Bous.

After this round, the competitors pack up and head to the Doodles spot where waveriding conditions await for the second round of the day. This time the waveriders were in the ascendancy and it was Marc Paré who won, ahead of Alessio Stillrich and Miguel Chapuis, while Pauline Katz confirmed her victory in the women's category.
In the combined general classification of the 2 rounds, Marc Paré climbed the highest step of the podium of this Freestyle Pro Tour event, followed by Alessio Stillrich and the Frenchman Mathis Mollard, while the victory in the women's category logically went to Pauline Katz...
