Heats getting tighter and tighter

The Surazo Infernal Chile World Cup continues on Friday with the repechage round and part of the 3rd round of the men's Pro elimination in conditions that are testing the waveriders of the PWA IWT Wave Tour, with heats lasting 27 minutes.

Friday's Surazo Infernal Chile World Cup kicks off with the Redemption Round. Local rider Andres Tobar only surfed 2 waves during the 27-minute heat and it was with an impressive last wave that he stole the show from Robby Swift, who was ill and narrowly edged out Adam Warchol. Japan's Takuma Sugi came out on top, accompanied by Arnaud Frennet who continued to defend the local colours by taking 2nd place. Alessio Stillrich also made it through to the next round, but the 1st sensation of the day came when Japan's Hayata Ishii was eliminated by local player Benjamin Fabres, who made a spectacular comeback in the final minutes. On the women's side, Sol Degrieck, Maria Behrens, Maria Andres and Coraline Foveau logically pocketed their ticket for the next round.

In conditions that remained highly technical, the start of the 8th round, and the 3rd in the men's Pro table, saw Camille Juban, Marcilio Browne, Morgan Noireaux, Jules Denel and Philip Köster shine. Winner of this event last year, Köster impressed observers with the best score of the day and of the competition (16.37 points), while Antoine Martin, in the same heat and with an ankle injury, secured2nd qualifying place.
The Surazo Infernal Chile World Cup continues on Saturday and Sunday, with the men's and women's quarter-finals on the line and some heats to come that are already worthy of a small final before their time!
