3 questions to Marta Maggetti

09/11/2022

Transferring from RS:X, the Italian Marta Maggetti made a perfect transfer to iQFOil by winning the iQFOil World Championships in Brest in front of all the favourites. An experienced competitor, she looks back on her great victory, which allows her to end her year in beauty.

Windsurfjournal.com: In what state of mind did you arrive in Brest and how did you prepare yourself?
Marta Maggetti: I sincerely was impatient to start this Event, the feeling was good, I was prepared, ready to finish the 2022 season nicely. I mean I did overall a great year, so no pressure to do something too big to try to save the season, I went to the worlds with a pure goal, playing and have fun with a super top fleet level. Of course, I’m a competitive person, but I wanted to try a new technique of approaching the race and yes it worked !

WJ: How would you sum up this event in a few words?
MM: I sum up this event with adrenaline, passion, strong emotions and extraordinary cheering from Italia team

WJ: What lessons have you learned from this event and this victory and what is your programme between now and Paris 2024?
MM: I learned that is so important to believe in yourself, the mind-set is 90% of the work and is so important to dedicate something big to the own soul and not to the others, because of course  there are many people who support me, in many situations, but on the water you are alone, fighting with your thoughts, fears and concerns, and it’s you at the end who you have to controll everything. So do it with love. My plan now is to rest for a few weeks, do a bit of hobbies, like surf, wingfoil and enjoy home. The training will start again at mid-December and then we will move to Lanzarote again to meet the others nations. The focus is still to gain weight, learn the foil tack and to continue constantly the hard work till Paris 2024
