3 questions to Lohan Jules

14/04/2023

After shining on the IFCA Junior and Youth circuit, Lohan Jules has recently moved up to the big leagues of the PWA World Tour. Windsurfjournal.com went to meet this talented young man, who is originally from Guadeloupe but lives in France for part of the competition season.

Windsurfjournal.com : After successfully competing in the IFCA youth circuit, you are now competing on the AFF and PWA World Tour... Is this a big change?
Lohan Jules: There is indeed a noticeable change in level between the IFCA Youth Tour, the AFF and the PWA World Tour. I have noticed a higher intensity on the World Tour from the round of 16 onwards. I think this difference is due to the no rules rule. It teaches you to always be at the top of your game and never let up on the intensity or you risk being overtaken.

WJ: For you, living in Guadeloupe, it is quite an organisation and logistics to organise your season in Europe, can you tell us about it?
LJ: Yes, I decided to stay in Guadeloupe. This requires extra organisation to keep costs down. Luckily I have many friends in France who have offered to host me and I am grateful for that. In order to move around, I rent a truck during my stay. I thank my sponsors because it is thanks to them that I can afford to travel around Europe. Of course, living in Guadeloupe and competing all over the world increases costs, but with the help of sponsors, family and good organisation, everything is possible.

WJ: You have a busy schedule this year, can you tell us about it and what are your sporting ambitions on the different circuits?
LJ: This year, I'm concentrating on the PWA World Tour and the AFF. I want to be in the top 5 in finals on the AFF and in the top 20 on the PWA. I also have the opportunity to compete in the Prince of Speed for the first time. I want to have as much fun as possible and wear the colours of my sponsors as high as possible.
