The nautical mile record for Antoine Albeau

07/07/2023

Exactly 1 week ago, on Friday 30th June, the Prince of Speed came to an end in La Palme in the south of France. And at the end of this final day of racing, Antoine Albeau had the luxury of beating his nautical mile speed record set 15 days earlier with 44.12 knots over 1853 metres!

The Prince of Speed, a waiting competition that was due to take place throughout June, was finally held on 14, 15, 26 and 30 June at La Palme in the south of France. On the programme for these 4 days were optimal conditions, a perfectly flat stretch of water, a Tramontane blowing from 28 to 46 knots and the nautical mile record in the sights for the competitors present.
At the end of this edition of the Prince of Speed, the participants lined up an impressive total of 12 world records and 20 national records. These records include 5 world records and 6 national records in the foil divisions, which are not yet officially recognised by the World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC).

But of all the records set, Antoine Albeau's performance outshone all the others. After first beating his July 2020 record of 43.34 knots on 15 June, FRA-192 repeated the feat 15 days later with a speed of 44.12 knots over 1853 metres!
Crowned world speed champion last spring, still world record holder over 500 metres with 53.27 knots and now the holder of a new benchmark over the nautical mile, Antoine Albeau confirms that going fast on the water is still a matter of experience and time spent on the water...
