Slalom before the medal races

The International iQFOil Games Cádiz is ready for its final day in the Bay of Cadiz, the Race Medal day. It was only a few minutes around 4p.m. when the conditions finally allowed the athletes to start up, in order to complete and exciting fourth day of the Games this Saturday 12th. They all competed in slalom tests for around two hours with an average 10-knot winds from the SW.
We had to wait to give the hopefuls one last chance to get into the top 10 and secure their place in the different medal races that will close the championship this Sunday. The first ten of each class have access, of which the first classified has a direct pass to the finals, the second and third to the semifinals, and the fourth to the tenth to the quarterfinals. 11:00 am is the appointment for this last day in the two course areas.

Among the Senior men, the Brazilian Mateus Isaac uses the income accrued the previous days to reach the final leadership after his most irregular day. Quite the opposite happened to the Canarian Ángel Granda, who uses two 1st and one 5th to move up to second place, reducing the distance with the Brazilian down to ten points only. Granda achieves his pass to the semifinals along with Hong Kong's Ling Yeung, third overall and first Under 21, a title that is practically assured. He is followed by the Spaniard Tomás Vieito, who drops to fourth place forced to rule out an BFD today. Also within the top 10 are the Andalusian Fernando Martínez del Cerro (CAND Chipiona) and the windsurfer from Javea José Luis Boronat, eighth and tenth, respectively.
Direct pass to the final for the Spanish Nicole Van der Velden in the women's group, among which the Italian Marta Maggetti who scored two first place today to reposition herself second, scoring four points against her compatriot Giorgia Speciale, third. Andalusian Blanca Manchón (CN Sevilla) will also continue to compete until the end, holding on to seventh place after winning the first slalom today. The Italian Sofia Renna retains the U21 leadership and distances herself from the Turkish Merve Vatan, second by more than twenty points.

Andalusian Antonio Medina's leadership in the Under 17 category was impressive, in which the RC El Candado windsurfer turned the score around and regained first place and direct access to the grand final. The Andalusian withstands the pressure to make use of his performance and the puncture of the Pole Igor Lewinski, now second with seven points more than the Andalusian. The third place is for the Portuguese Martim Mendes. The Catalans Cesar Alonso and Sandro Portune also enter the top 10, seventh and eighth, respectively.
There are no surprises among the U17 girls, where the Polish María Rudowicz remains unbeaten, followed by the Andalusian Arancha Sahuquillo from CN Sevilla and the Czech Alexandra Lojinova, both already in the semifinals. Also competing tomorrow is the windsurfer from CN Puerto Sherry, Carmen Pica, seventh.

Frenchman Emile Roullet hit the mark in the men's U19 category, in which the Frenchman won all the tests today to lead the final. They are followed by the Italians Jacopo Gavioli who moved up one place and Manolo Modena who dropped from first to third place, both already in the semi-finals. Completing the top10 in this order, the Polish Machura, the Czech Drda, the Polish Pietrzak, the Italian Pilloni and the French Martin, Assorin and Nicolle.
Among the girls, the first place is confirmed by the Polish Aleksandra Wasiewicz by one point over her compatriot Pola Wawrzyniak, who goes to the semifinals with the Czech Kristyna Pinosova. As in almost all classes, equality between applicants warn us for high-voltage finals Sunday!
