It s all over in Cadiz

The Brazilian Mateus Isaac, the Italians Marta Maggetti, Sofía Renna, Manolo Modena, the Hong Kong native Ling Yeung, the Czech Nela Sadilkova, the Spanish Antonio Medina and the Polish Maria Rudowicz, are the champions of the iQFOil Games Cádiz 2022, the second international event of the new Olympic discipline on 2022 that has been held in the waters of the Bay of Cadiz throughout this week, and that today came to an end after a day reserved for the top ten of each fleet.

To finish, a total of eighteen tests were completed, three per class, necessary to get to a final of three, were the leader of the event was already awaiting for his/her final race. The last tests have been marked by west winds of 10-12 knots of average intensity in the two racing areas. Among the men, the Brazilian Mateus Isaac hangs the gold medal after the final with the Spaniard Ángel Granda (second place) and the Hong Kong Ling Yeung (third place). Ling Yeung at the same time, achieves the Under 21 title, a podium in which he was accompanied by the also U21 American Alexander Temko (second place U21) and the Andalusian Aurelio Terry from CN Sevilla (third place U21).

On the Women fleet, the Spanish Nicole Van der Velden has not been able to finish off her great job among women, defeated today by the Italian Marta Maggetti during the last final race. The Madrilenian hangs the silver and next to them the Italian Giorgia Speciale climbs the podium on third place. Checking the U21-Women fleet, the champion is the Italian Sofía Renna, followed by the Turkish Merce Vatan and the Italian Linda Oprandi. In the men's Under 19 class, the French Emile Roullet was unable to retain the first place he reached the previous day, and lost in the final against the Italians Manolo Modena, first, and Jacopo Gavioli, second.
Surprise also among the U19 girls, with the final victory of the Czech Nela Sadilkova who reached the final and beat the Polish Aleksandra Wasiewicz who was leading the previous day and the Czech Katerina Altmannova, second and third, respectively.

The Andalusian Antonio Medina is proclaimed U17 champion and is the only Spaniard to win the international championship celebrated in Cadiz, Spain. The RC El Candado de Málaga windsurfer considers his assault on the leadership to be good on the previous day and hangs on to the gold, seconded by the Poles Igor Lewinski and Maciej Dabek.
Among the U17 girls, the Polish María Rudowicz wins, with silver and bronze for the Hungarian Hanna Simon and the Spanish Enrichetta Bettini of the RCN of Gran Canaria.
Once the race was finished, the medals for the first 5 winners of all groups were awarded. Among the winners, the young Alejandro Selma from CN Puerto Sherry received the award for fair-play, acknowledging his gesture with his colleague and opponent, Radim Hasman CZE-93 whom shoulder was dislocated in the water and he accompanied until he was assisted by the organizers.
This event comes to an end under the famous Poniente wind allowing to run a great set of finals making a complete 5 out of 5 days of racing, showing that the bay of Puerto Sherry has great competing conditions. Next event for the Youth and Junior will be held during the Easter Holidays (13 to 16th April) in Campione di Garda, Italy.
