Shahar Tibi and Adrien Mestre win in Lanzarote

22/02/2023

After the iQFOil International Games, the Marina Rubicón in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, hosted recently the Lanzarote International Regatta, a competition marked by the victories of Israeli Shahar Tibi and Frenchman Adrien Mestre.

Winter base camp for many iQFOil athletes, the south of the island of Lanzarote hosted the Lanzarote International Regatta from 14th to 17th February, 2 weeks after the iQFOil International Games won by the Spanish Pilar Lamadrid and the Polish Pawel Tarnowski.
With 4 days of racing on the programme, one of which was marked by too light a wind to race, the Israeli delegation continued to stand out in the women's category with the first 3 places on the podium taken by Shahar Tibi, Sharon Kantor and Maya Morris, despite a medal race not being held on the last day due to light conditions.

In the men's race, England's Sam Sills led from start to finish, but was surprised on the final day by France's Adrien Mestre, who won the medal race on the final lap from 4th overall. Sills finished 3rd in the event behind Dutchman Luuc Van Opzeeland, ahead of German Sebastian Koerdel and another Frenchman Nicolas Goyard...
