In the world of windsurfing, there's still no event like the Défi Wind. And for its 21st edition, which took place in Gruissan from 18 to 21 May, this unique competition reached new heights, with an incredible 1406 windsurfers from all over the world taking part. The gathering was simply unprecedented. The marathon course, to be completed 1 or 2 times a day, stretched along the magnificent beach of La Vieille Nouvelle, between Gruissan and Port-La Nouvelle. In the men's race, Frenchman Nicolas Goyard topped the podium, followed by the talented Dutchwoman Sara Wennekes, who upset the favourites in the women's race.
But beyond the winners, the Défi Wind was an opportunity for all participants to share a unique and unforgettable experience. In a spirit of camaraderie and shared passion, windsurfing enthusiasts exchanged ideas on land and on the water, strengthening the bonds that unite them within the international windsurfing community.
The Défi Wind in Gruissan proved once again that windsurfing continues to seduce and fascinate thousands of people all over the world. This edition will be remembered as an exceptional moment. Windsurfing continues to write its own history, one that is becoming ever more vibrant and exciting.
Now that the lights of competition have gone out, windsurfers from all over the world have created incredible memories and lasting friendships.
