Anything is possible

08/04/2023

After a full and intense day of racing on Friday at the Trofeo Princesa Sofia in Palma de Mallorca, the British duo of Emma Wilson and Sam Sills are in the lead ahead of Saturday's medal races.

Day six of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia on the Balearic Islands will determine the 10 men and women who will compete in Saturday's medal races. The wind, often capricious this week, is back with a thermal breeze that will allow the first races of the day to start in slalom and then in course racing.
As on the previous day, it is better to have strong nerves and it is the Israeli, Sharon Kantor, who pays the price for this difficult day. A long time in the pack this week, she ended up in 11th place and will be watching the medal race from the beach on Saturday! In the first two places of the overall ranking, the Englishwoman Emma Wilson and the New Zealander Veerle ten Have are the big winners of the day, while the French delegation stands out with 3 representatives in the medal race, Lucie Belbeoch 3rd, Lola Sorin 4th and Helene Noesmoen 6th.

In the men's race, Englishman Sam Sills is rewarded for his consistency by taking the lead with one day to go, displacing German Sebastian Koerdel from the top spot. As in the women's race, three French sailors will take part in the medal race on Saturday with Nicolas Goyard in 3rd, Clément Bourgeois in 7th and Louis Pignolet in 9th.
After a calm morning, the thermal breeze should arrive on Saturday afternoon to complete a competition where anything is possible...
