On Tuesday 31 October, Saint-Tropez once again played host to 3 rounds of the Défi Wind SuperStars 2023 Challenge by LAST. It was a day full of thrills, with competitors once again pushing back their limits!
The south-easterly wind of the previous day gave way to the Mistral on Tuesday 31 October for the 3rd day of the Défi Wind SuperStars 2023 Challenge by LAST. Launched in the morning, the 3rd race of the week took place over a demanding course of almost 25 kilometres, with a WNW wind blowing at up to 40 knots. Nicolas Goyard came out on top, ahead of William Huppert, Pierre Mortefon, Thomas Goyard and Antoine Albeau. On the womens' side, it was Hélène Noesmoen who took victory, leaving Sara Wennekes, Marion Mortefon, Lucie Belbeoch and Marion Couturier in her wake.
The afternoon saw the start of the 4th race, with a slightly shortened course. The wind, which had been particularly strong before the start, decided to play tricks on a number of riders and became increasingly irregular in certain areas of the course. Thomas Goyard came out on top in the end, closely followed by Rytis Jasiunas, while Cédric Bordes took 3rd place. Tristan Algret and Alex Cousin rounded off the top 5. Sara Wennekes came out on top, ahead of Hélène Noesmoen, Marion Mortefon, Marion Couturier and Lucie Belbeoch.
In the middle of the day, the 5th and final race took place in winds that were still very irregular, fluctuating between 10 and 30 knots in certain areas of the race course. At the end of this final race of the day, Nicolas Goyard won once again, taking the lead from his brother Thomas and Alexandre Cousin. In the women's race, Sara Wennekes followed up with her 2nd win of the day, ahead of Marion Mortefon and Hélène Noesmoen.
With 1 day to go before the end of the Défi Wind SuperStars 2023 by LAST Challenge, Sara Wennekes and Nicolas Goyard are leading this event, a mixed competition combining windfoil/windsurf, kitefoil and wingfoil, in which the leading windsurfer, Nicolas Goyard, is only in 10th place overall as the kitefoilers dominate the fleet...
