For almost two decades, Windsurfjournal.com has been much more than just an information website for windsurfing enthusiasts.
Created in 2005, this medium has tried to capture the very essence of the sport, and has succeeded by uniting a community of windsurfers, both professionals and amateurs, around a shared passion. For nearly 20 years, inspirational videos, exclusive interviews and captivating stories have punctuated the daily lives of readers, who have found in this site a real Ariadne's thread linking them to their favourite discipline and the joy of practising it. Over the years, the economic context and changes in the windsurfing market have shaken up the original business model, which was mainly based on exclusive and discreet advertising.
The pandemic in 2020 and the economic difficulties of the last two years have added new burdens to the entire windsurfing world, including our advertisers who, despite their loyal support, and I would like to publicly thank them for this, have had to reduce their contribution to our existence.
Faced with this worrying situation, Windsurfjournal.com is forced today to make a solemn appeal to its community to continue to exist. This free medium, which has always endeavoured to remain accessible to all, must now, in order to survive, begin a shift towards a participative model through our subscription formula and the ‘Buy Me a Coffee’ module (to pay for one or more coffees). This transition is not a simple choice, but a necessity if we are to continue to exist.
So I'm calling on each and every one of you to provide direct support through donations and/or subscriptions. This is essential to ensure the continued existence of the site, which has always made it a point of honour to offer you the best in windsurfing without intrusive advertising.
Each contribution can make a difference, because in a world where social networks have taken on a predominant role, the number of subscribers on Facebook and Instagram or even the number of ‘views’ and ‘likes’ have no economic impact.
By supporting Windsurfjournal.com, you will be contributing to the survival of a unique medium, dedicated body and soul to windsurfing. It is thanks to your help that this site will be able to continue to bring you the latest news on the sport, collect testimonials, share experiences and feed the passion of thousands of windsurfers.
Thank you for considering a donation to Windsurfjournal.com. Please take a moment to think about how many times you've visited our site this year. If the information and stories you've found here are valuable to you, join the ranks of readers who support our mission. Every contribution, whether it's €5, €20, €50 or any other amount, or every new subscription, will make a real difference. Every donation, no matter how small, will help to keep our project going.
Together, we can write a new page in this wonderful adventure, by preserving a space for exchange and information that is first and foremost yours. Thank you for your support.
