Wind, style and spectacle

12/06/2025

For four days, from 5 to 8 June, the bay of Porto Pollo in Sardinia vibrated to the rhythm of a new leg of the Freestyle Pro Tour. Despite a timid start marked by light wind conditions, the freestylers put on a show thanks to adapted formats, such as the flowstyle and tow-in sessions, where the best young talents stood out. Pier Bongianni, Leander Halm and Bijou Shahmirian shone with their creativity in light airs.

On the second day, the foil tricks took over, with a great foilstyle session won in extremis by Steven Van Broeckhoven, thanks to an impressive kono diablo at the end of the heat. The tow-in then took centre stage. In front of an enthusiastic audience, the riders performed a series of spectacular aerial tricks. Yentel Caers, in great form, literally exploded the scores with double air burners scoring up to 10.5 points, but it was Jacopo Testa who led the way to the final.

The final day finally offered perfect conditions, with winds of up to 25 knots for the single eliminations. In the junior category, Cosmo Pezzetti won after an intense duel with Pier Bongianni. The women's category was dominated by Maaike Huvermann, while in the men's category, Yentel Caers confirmed his supremacy with a resounding victory over Jacopo Testa, thanks to a series of powerful and perfectly executed manoeuvres.
The Porto Pollo event once again demonstrated the richness of modern freestyle: from the diversity of disciplines to the emergence of young talent, all in a warm atmosphere combining high-level competition and community spirit. Next stop, Paros in Greece from 29 June to 2 July!
