Un Solo Mare Per Tutti 2023

16/05/2024

More than 1 year after completing the crossing of the Ligurian Sea between Imperia in Italy and Giraglia in Corsica (see our article of 19 December 2022), Italian Matteo Iachino tackled another major challenge on 18 October. The programme for ITA-140 included sailing in the Gulf of Aranci from Sardinia to Livorno in northern Tuscany, all in Italy.
With a solid forecast of south-easterly winds in the Tyrrhenian Sea, Matteo Iachino set off early on the morning of 18 October from Cala Spada, equipped with his Severne HyperGlide 6 8.0 and Starboard X-15 85.
Setting off from Sardinia, skirting Corsica and passing through Elba, Matteo Iachino finally reached the coast of Livorno after a 10-hour day's sailing. The crossing covered a total distance of 378.03 km at an average speed of over 20 knots (38.3 km/h) and burned some 8,000 calories in the process!
In the video, a few months later, we take a look back at this sporting and human experience, which put windsurfing back at the heart of adventure and raids, with Matteo Iachino admitting that it was the most difficult experience of his life...
