Storm Nils at Cap Saint-Louis

17/02/2026

With you, we continue

Storm Nils swept across part of France at the end of last week, causing significant damage in some areas but also providing rare conditions, particularly in the eastern Mediterranean...
Located in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, Cap Saint-Louis is best known as one of the most beautiful right-hand breaks in the Mediterranean. Popular with surfers from the Marseille area, the wave curls around the cape and can break for nearly 200 meters.
But thanks to Storm Nils on February 12, its power and its (rather rare) orientation, this surfing hotspot in the south of France became, for a few hours, a superb wave spot for windsurfing!
Despite difficult weather conditions, which would have required a tripod for slightly more stable images, Yann Thomas had a front-row seat on this unusual day, with Antony Ruenes, Jean-Christophe Le Gal, Alexandre Villatte, and Jean-Marc Viande in action.
