PWA event in Croatia cancelled

24/05/2023

It is becoming a habit that after announcing a nice calendar at the beginning of the year, the PWA World Tour authorities announce cancellations and postponements a few weeks later.

After Marignane (see our article of 19 April 2023) it is now the turn of Bol in Croatia, scheduled for 12 to 16 July, to be cancelled. The reason: the recent storms in the area have caused significant damage to the beaches and warehouses of the centre (and the organisation structure of the event), which, combined with the global financial pressures, has forced the organisers to cancel the 2023 event.

To this bad news must be added the persistent rumours of an event in Gran Canaria, which was going to be a waverider-only event and a final in New Caledonia at the end of November, which is still uncertain due to recent shark attacks (see our article of 23 March 2023).
As a result, the 2023 calendar of the world's slalom racers now consists of 3 confirmed stops, Fuerteventura in the Canaries in July, Sylt in Germany in September and finally Yokosuka in Japan at the beginning of November...
