Pierre Mortefon supported by a decentralised community

01/09/2025

Pierre Mortefon, four-time PWA world champion, has just written a new chapter in windsurfing history. After a season fraught with difficulties, including an injury, a change of equipment in two events and the loss of his main sponsor, the French windsurfer drew on his experience and resilience to clinch a new title in Tenerife.

But this victory is not limited to sporting performance. For the first time in professional sport, Pierre Mortefon is sponsored by a decentralised community: SPX6900, a movement born out of Web3. An active member since March 2025, the champion had already made a lasting impression during the SPX6900 competition on Instagram. Impressed by his determination, members organised a fundraiser in $SPX in less than a week to support him in the final stages of the PWA World Tour. In total, more than 6,900 $SPX, or approximately €10,000, was raised.

This initiative goes beyond the financial aspect. It reflects an alignment of values between Pierre Mortefon and SPX6900: perseverance, discipline, collective confidence and pushing oneself beyond one's limits. This 100% community-based, spontaneous and intermediary-free sponsorship model opens up a new avenue for sport. It shows how digital communities can have a concrete and lasting impact on the lives of athletes, while redefining the codes of sports financing.
With this double achievement, a fourth world title and the first decentralised sponsorship in history, Pierre Mortefon and SPX6900 are ushering in an era where collective passion and blockchain technology are becoming drivers of performance and social transformation.
