From 1 to 9 March, the PWA WWT Wave Tour stopped off on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico for the 3rd 4-star competition of the season. And in conditions that were often very limited, Maria Andrés and Bernd Roediger got the better of their opponents.
A new stop on the PWA WWT Wave Tour calendar, the Puerto Rico Windsurf World Cup offered a week of intense competition, bringing together the world's best riders in technical and often demanding conditions.

The first day saw the start of the men's Pro qualifiers. Antoine Martin, Federico Morisio, Marc Paré and Morgan Noireaux went straight through to the quarter-finals, while Bernd Roediger, who was struggling, had to go through the repechage round.
The following day, the competition continued with the Masters division, in which reigning champion Mike Friedl was eliminated in the semi-finals, leaving the way clear for Vincent Beauvarlet, who won with the best score of the day (7.94 points). On the final day of competition, conditions were very fair, with some good waves but far too light a wind for the competitors to express themselves as they wished...

In the men's race, Bernd Roediger made a spectacular comeback to beat Takara Ishii, Vincent Beauvarlet and Federico Morisio. Among the favourites, Morgan Noireaux and Antoine Martin will have to make do with 5th place in this event. In the women's category, Maria Andrés dominated the final, accompanied on the podium by Kaelyn Holmes and Coraline Foveau. In the Masters category, Vincent Beauvarlet confirmed his current good form by taking the title ahead of Rovira and Perez. In the Grand Masters, it was Nelson Perez who triumphed thanks to his perfect reading of the local waves.
After Australia, Japan and Puerto Rico, the PWA WWT Wave Tour will be heading to Chile for the Surazo Infernal World Cup from 24 March to 6 April, the first major 5-star competition of the year...
