Gone with the Wind

With you, we continue

Life is such that death sometimes comes when we least expect it... This 7-minute video demonstrates this and is a poignant tribute to Folkert Brouwers, Dutch windsurfing icon and dear friend to many enthusiasts. Directed by Hylke Knot, it pays tribute to a man who was much more than an athlete: a friend, a brother, a father, a husband, and a spiritual guide for the windsurfing community.
Folkert Brouwers died on January 29 in Vredenburg, South Africa, after collapsing at the water's edge during what would be his last windsurfing session. Tragically, this happened in one of the most beautiful places in the world and one of his favorite spots. Fifty-one-year-old Folkert Brouwers was originally from Menaam and worked as director of operations and buildings at Nij Smellinghe Hospital in the Netherlands. He died while on vacation in Vredenburg, where he went every year to windsurf. The sport was his passion and his reason for living.
The video combines footage of Folkert Brouwers windsurfing with moments of camaraderie and friendship. Accompanied by moving music, this video celebrates his passion, generosity, and the profound impact he had on those close to him.
