Finally, races in Yokosuka

15/11/2025

After two days of waiting, the third day of the Fly! ANA Yokosuka, Miura Windsurf World Cup 2025 finally saw the first Foil Slalom races of the week. A capricious wind oscillating between 6 and 15 knots allowed for a complete elimination round for both women and men, despite often marginal and highly technical conditions. In this context, the leaders of the circuit, Justine Lemeteyer and Matteo Iachino, negotiated their entry perfectly.

In the women's event, Justine Lemeteyer quickly reminded everyone why she wears the world leader's bib. Despite a mediocre start, the Frenchwoman took the lead on the second jibe, literally flying to an uncontested victory. Behind her, Slovenia's Lina Erzen confirmed her status as the number one rival. The two competitors are now separated by just over a point in the provisional rankings for the event, suggesting a close battle right to the end. In the battle for the podium, Blanca Alabau distinguished herself by clinching third place after a fine fight against the young Norwegian Maya Gysler, who showed great promise in her first appearance on the PWA World Tour. Marion Mortefon made a strong comeback to competition with a fifth place finish.

On the men's side, Johan Søe put on a show in the first final, leading from start to finish to get his quest for a fourth consecutive victory in the event off to an ideal start. Matteo Iachino played it safe by securing second place, a valuable result in his battle for the world title against Pierre Mortefon, who finished third after overtaking Maciek Rutkowski on the final leg of the final.
The rest of the event will depend on lighter winds forecast for Sunday, before a final day on Monday that could provide the conditions needed to conclude the week in Japan.
