Everything to be done

The penultimate day of the iQFOil European Championships in Patras, Greece, with an erratic wind, allowed to know the qualified competitors for the medal race on Sunday, a race in which everything remains to be done...

The penultimate day of the iQFOil European Championships, this Saturday, is already time to take stock of the week. If for the leaders it is only a matter of securing a place in the top 10, which is synonymous with a place in the medal race, for others it is the last chance to qualify. The wind was slow to arrive, hovering between 13 and 15 knots before dying down considerably. The German, Sebastien Koerdel, who has made very few mistakes, remains in the lead, ahead of the Dutchmen Luuc van Opzeeland and Kiran Badloe, the latter taking advantage of the mistakes made by his compatriot Huig-Jan Tak. Nicolas Goyard remains in 4th place and will compete in the medal race on Sunday with his brother Thomas, 8th.

With 3 valid races in the women's category and places 12th, 3rd and 1st, the Israeli Sharon Kantor increases her lead in the overall standings in front of her compatriot Shahar Tibi and the Englishwoman Emma Wilson, the author of a great comeback. In 9th place and in a tight situation for part of the week, the Frenchwoman Hélène Noesmoen qualifies in extremis.
With the weather forecast predicting up to 40 knots on Sunday, the medal races are set to be more than sporting with class leader Gonzalo Costa Hoevel set to send everyone into the water!
