Curtains close on Tenerife

11/08/2025

The curtain fell on the Playa Surf CBbC Hotel Tenerife El Médano Windsurf Grand Slam, with no wind on the final day of competition on Sunday. The results of the single eliminations in wave are therefore validated, with Sarah-Quita Offringa and Marc Paré crowned champions.

In the women's competition, Sarah-Quita Offringa finally clinched a title that had eluded her in Tenerife. After failing to even make the podium in 2024, the multiple world champion found the key to winning and consolidating her lead in the overall standings, aiming for a fifth consecutive world title in waves. Behind her, young Spaniard Alexia Kiefer Quintana confirmed her consistency with a seventh consecutive podium finish, but remains 1,500 points behind the leader. Belgian Sol Degrieck, only 15 years old, secured a remarkable third place, while 22-year-old Line Bang Wittrup reached her first world final and finished fourth. Pauline Katz and Justyna Sniady shared fifth place, less than half a point from the final.

In the men's competition, Marc Paré retained his title at El Medano and achieved an even more prestigious victory in a 5-star event. His performance was marked by a massive double forward worth 8.27 points in light wind conditions. Thanks to this victory, he joins Marcilio Browne at the top of the provisional rankings with 25,385 points. Victor Fernandez continues his success story with Tenerife by taking second place, followed by Marino Gil, who secured his first podium finish here. Browne had to settle for fourth place, ahead of Philip Köster and Antoine Martin, who tied for fifth.
This Canary Islands stage completely revives the race for the world titles, with an exciting end to the season in store.
