Course Racing reshuffles the deck

With you, we continue

The third day of the iQFOiL International Games in Lanzarote on Monday marked a clear turning point in the competition. After two days dominated by short, intense formats, the return to constructed courses, combined with stronger winds, profoundly changed the balance in the rankings.

The flow, now well established in the north, strengthened on Monday to between 12 and 16 knots, with gusts approaching 18. This very pronounced orientation strongly favoured the right side of the course, reducing tactical options and concentrating the fleet in a narrow area. The starts and the first crossings proved decisive, with every mistake immediately costing dearly. The sea conditions have also changed: the short swell of the first few days has given way to long waves, making downwind legs more technical and demanding in terms of foil control.

In the women's event, Emma Wilson continues her flawless run. The Briton remains at the top of the overall standings after three days of racing. Sharon Kantor confirms her consistency and remains in second place. Behind them, Italy's Marta Maggetti made the biggest progress of the day and moved up to the provisional podium. Tamar Steinberg, who was very prominent on the first two days, dropped one place and finds herself just outside the top three.
The men's rankings have been largely reshuffled. Finn Hawkins took full advantage of the return of Course Racing to retake the lead in the overall standings. France's Nicolas Goyard had a solid day that propelled him into second place, while his compatriot Yun Pouliquen confirmed his consistency by retaining third place. Italy's Federico Pilloni, who was leading the day before, had a more difficult day and fell to ninth place.
