Boa Onda

With you, we continue

With ‘Boa Onda - The Good, the Bad and Everything in Between’, Sarah-Quita Offringa offers an unfiltered insight into her trip to Brazil in 2025. Far from ultra-polished productions, the Aruban champion is unashamed to show her wave riding in all its glory: good runs, adjustments, occasionally hesitant attempts and a few fine successes.
For this trip, the aim was simple: to ride waves, and nothing else. Sarah-Quita Offringa favoured starboard-tack conditions, a direction she particularly enjoys when surfing but has practised less regularly in recent years. Yet it was on this tack that she learnt her first push loops and back loops. As a result, the first jumps seen in the video are at times a far cry from her usual standards, before she gradually gained in commitment and precision as the sessions went on. The trip also served as a technical testing ground. Various equipment set-ups, particularly regarding fins and positioning on the board, were tested in order to refine her feel for the waves.
For nearly four weeks, Sarah-Quita Offringa went out sailing time and again, making the most of this change of pace. She considered this the ideal preparation before heading to Sylt in Germany for the competition. But whatever the result in the competition, this Brazilian interlude seems above all to have been all about having fun. And that is undoubtedly what makes this video particularly interesting. It serves as a reminder that even at the very highest level, progress also comes through mistakes, adjustments and imperfect sessions.
