A masterclass

With you, we continue

There are certain spots that seem tailor-made for certain riders. El Médano, in Tenerife, is undoubtedly one of Marc Paré’s favourite playgrounds. For the third year running, the Catalan rider has emerged victorious in the recent World Wave Tour event, following a final day contested in particularly challenging conditions.
The video documenting this latest performance, directed by Rafael España, provides a visual insight into what makes the Spanish rider so formidable today. Against a backdrop of winds ranging from 30 to 45 knots, Marc Paré delivered a remarkably consistent performance, combining commitment in the air with skilful navigation through the waves.
His performance in the final will go down as one of the highlights of the 2026 event. With 36.63 points, Marc Paré achieved the highest single-run total of the entire competition. His performance was particularly impressive in the jumps, notably featuring a perfectly executed double forward, whilst his surfing allowed him to put together a virtually flawless score.
But beyond the figures, this video highlights, above all, his extremely precise riding. There are no superfluous movements: his footwork is crisp, his lines are perfectly controlled, and every section of the wave seems to be exploited with great efficiency. This approach serves as a reminder that, even in an era of ever more spectacular tricks, wave riding remains, above all, a matter of reading the spot, positioning and mastering the equipment.
Facing him, Philip Köster put in a top-class performance in the final, but the German ultimately failed to match the Catalan’s display. With this third consecutive victory at El Médano, Marc Paré has cemented his status as a specialist at this spot and once again etched his name at the top of an event that has become a must-attend fixture on the international calendar.
