A late wind in Majorca

29/10/2024

The iQFOiL Youth and Junior World Championship has just kicked off in Mallorca on the Balearic Islands, bringing together 375 young athletes from 35 nations. A light, late wind on Monday kicked off the festivities for a great week of competition.

It's at Sa Ràpita on the island of Majorca in the Balearic Islands that the competitors are meeting this year for their iQFOiL Youth and Junior World Championship, the last major event of the season in the U17 and U19 categories...
The first day on Monday was marked by light winds and delays in the race programme. It wasn't until around 4pm that an easterly breeze of 8 to 10 knots set in. These light conditions enabled the U19 men's category to complete a Slalom race. The participants were divided into yellow and blue groups, with each fleet contesting three legs. Six competitors are doing well on this first day: Federico Pilloni, Leonardo Tomasini, Lucas Gadeyne, Skip Brüll, Igor Lewinski and Val Erzen. In the men's U17s, only one heat was raced in the yellow fleet, while the girls were unfortunately unable to express themselves on the water due to the conditions.
