3 questions to Camille Juban

04/03/2022
At the end of a double elimination during which he won 7 heats, the Guadeloupean Camille Juban took the 3rd place of the SOMWR 10x Cabo Verde PWA World Cup in Cape Verde. Freshly back in Europe, he looks back on this performance which honours in the best way his new contract with AV Boards!

Windsurfjournal.com: In what state of mind did you arrive at this event in Cape Verde when you had announced a few days earlier the end of your collaboration with Quatro and the beginning of the new one with AV Boards?
Camille Juban : In the end I think I arrived with a bit more pressure than usual because I wanted to honour the beginning of this new collaboration with a good result.

WJ: Eliminated in the 2nd round of the single elimination, things obviously didn't go as you would have liked?
CJ: You can always lose in the 1st or 2nd round... But in this case I didn't handle the pressure to do well, it was a heat with only killers and I was unlucky with the score. So yeah, I was a little disappointed, especially since we really weren't sure if we were going to make the double elimination.

WJ: And finally there is this incredible comeback in the double elimination during which you beat Antoine Martin and Thomas Traversa, can you tell us about it?
CJ: Since this double elimination was not sure to happen, I told myself that if it was going to happen, I just had to enjoy the ride while staying in competition mode. My goal was just to get through 1 or 2 heats to limit the damage. But after passing the second heat, I concentrated on keeping the pace as long as I could. So it was really hard to put aside a close friendship with Thomas Traversa and Antoine Martin but at this level I just try to go as far as possible.
