No wind in Gruissan

20/05/2007
After Friday’s superb day of racing, the 700 riders were once again ready to go on the big beach at Gruissan for the 3rd day of the Defi Wind…Present but definitely not ready to go was the famous Tramontana wind, having lost most of its strength and blowing no more than 5 - 8 knots, whilst waiting for an easterly to blow in during the morning. But in such light conditions no racing at all was possible and the day drifted by to 5.00pm when the race committee decided they’d had enough and stood the riders down !No show on the water perhaps but still plenty to see and clinics to attend, organised by the manufacturers. Pieter Bijl and Antoine Albeau consequently found themselves presenting the new NeilPryde RS:Racing sails, and Bijl turned up again to talk about the new Fanatic 2007 slalom boards. Anders Bringdal spoke about his new involvement with Naish and presented some prototypes of what will be the 2008 Naish Stealth sails…Everyone’s crossing their fingers for the final day in the hope that the moderate easterly will blow in and allow at least one more race.
