Light wind in Gruissan…

02/05/2008
They came from all over France, but also from Holland, Italy, Spain, Russia and even Australia, and they all came to Gruissan in the south of France on Thursday for the famous Defi Wind... And among them some big name stars like Antoine Albeau, Robert Teriitehau, Anders Bringdal, and lets not forget the massive guest of honour, one Jim Drake who, at all of 85 years old, shows that he's still got his passion and energy intact !After a morning spent confirming regsitrations and arrivals, the first rider briefing for the 784 (to be totally accurate) runners, some 16 of the expected participants having opted not to make the journey in view of the pessimistic wind forecast, was scheduled for 3.00pm... In the middle of the afternoon the south-easterly wind did limp up as far as 13 knots, tempting some of the riders onto the water to test the conditions, but in the end it was about 5.30pm when the race committee decided to give all the riders the rest of the day off, with everyone crossing their fingers for some improvement tomorrow... Watch the Robert Teriitehau video (Quick Time Player) Watch the general view video (Quick Time Player) Watch the Exocet Warp SL Pro Model 2009 video (Quick Time Player) Watch the Mistral Twinzer RD 2009 video (Quick Time Player) Watch the NeilPryde stand video (Quick Time Player) Watch the general view 2 video (Quick Time Player) Watch the skippers meeting video (Quick Time Player) Watch the Antoine Albeau video (Quick Time Player) Watch the Julien Quentel video (Quick Time Player) More information about the Défi Wind : www.defiwind.com
